Anyone want a Vintage Upright Grand Piano???

I have in my possession a vintage upright grand piano that I'd like to offer to anyone who would give it a good home. I don't play enough to justify keeping it and taking up the space in our small home. It is in pretty good playing condition, but hasn't been tuned since 2001.

It is a Hallet, Davis & Co. piano, est. in 1839 in Boston. The first tuning signature is dated July 1940, so I know it is at least that old.
It has need of some work--it's been in many homes before my own. But, it is beautiful and probably has many more years of music to offer if someone is willing to get it tuned up and tickle its keys more than I've found time to do.

It's free--we just need the new owner to arrange for pick up here on the South Side of Indianapolis. It's large and heavy, so you'd need a crew, but if you've been wanting a unique piano and have room for it, it will be worth the effort.

Send me a note if you're interested.

By Golly, That Was Hilarious!

Did you see it? The Saturday Night Live with Sarah Palin?
I didn't--I was too tired and went to bed. Thank goodness for online TV. It was absolutely hilarious!! I wish I'd stayed up to see it live!
They had the highest ratings they've had in 14 years! I guess Sarah may be a little more popular than Obama's campaign wants to admit...
Check it out:

Put the country first; vote for McCain-Palin

Wow, I am impressed! I found an American article that supports the McCain/Palin ticket!

MORNING SENTINEL
10/20/2008

Newsflash to the Obama campaign: Barack Obama is running against McCain-Palin, not Bush-Cheney.
Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have a proven history of bucking their party. The McCain-Palin ticket puts our country first, not their party first, and their records prove it.

The Democrats have had control of Congress for almost two years. What have they accomplished? Why didn't they do something to keep our economy strong? Weren't they going to end (surrender) the war in Iraq? Well that hasn't happened. Due to the troop surge that McCain voted for, we are winning the war in Iraq and will win the war on terror. Obama voted against the troop surge, but now admits it succeeded beyond his wildest imagination.

We have not been attacked since 9/11, and the McCain-Palin ticket takes the issue of terrorism seriously. Joe Lieberman believes the McCain-Palin ticket will keep us safe. Let's listen to Lieberman this year.

Bill Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist who bombed the Capitol and the Pentagon. Obama launched his political career in Ayers' living room and also has participated on various boards with him. Obama's poor judgment will not protect us from terrorists and his tax increases will further destroy our economy. Yes, even tax increases on the middle class. Look at his record.

I encourage you to put your country first and your party affiliation aside and support McCain-Palin.

Truth Be Told

If you've been on my blog lately, you know I really like Sarah Palin. No, she's not perfect. Who is? And I'm not too awfully fond of politics in general. So many of them seem to lie and just say what will get them their place in office and then they move on to their own agendas. It feels like most elections are about choosing the lesser of two evils.

Well, what I have found particularly disturbing in this current campaign is how vigilantly the media is tearing Sarah Palin apart. And while I have been reminded when discussing this with others that she is a new face and it is the media's job to dig up the dirt for us, why is Obama not receiving the same courtesy? He's a relatively new face as well. And his "dirt" is exponentially more disturbing. Quite frankly, he is a bit terrifying to me. I don't understand the popularity.

So, I have this google alert email set up so that I get a listing of all the recent articles of Sarah Palin sent to me each day. Most of them I ignore--they seem so petty and repetitive. And they're all so negative and one-sided. What I have found intriguing is that articles written about the campaign and the candidates that originate in Canada and the UK are much more objective (of course, they're just watching us from the sidelines). I feel like I get a more truthful article when I read from international papers rather than our own.

Well, here is the article I read this morning and I feel compelled to share it with as many voters as I possibly can.
Please, regardless of your party affiliation, take a moment to read this. Ponder what an outside country is seeing as they watch this battle of power go on in our country. It is really eye-opening.

Everyone is out to destroy Palin - but it's Obama's past we should examine

Last updated at 2:05 AM on 13th October 2008

With all eyes glued to the collapse of global capitalism as we know it, attention has been somewhat distracted from the race to lead what still remains the most powerful nation on earth - the United States. We ignore it at our peril.

From the shockingly partisan presentation by the pro-Obama media on both sides of the Atlantic, you'd think this was a contest between twin pillars of rectitude and inspirational high seriousness on the Democratic side, and a joke Republican ticket consisting of an erratic old man and a brainless, wacko, gun-toting beauty queen, who in a fit of madness John McCain picked as his vice-presidential candidate.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, the beauty queen in question, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, has struck an enormous chord with Middle America. As a result, Barack Obama's media supporters are making a huge effort to destroy her.

Inquiry

Now the Left thinks it has shot its moose. It has been crowing that an inquiry by Alaska's legislature has found Palin abused her office by firing Alaska's Commissioner of Public Safety for refusing to fire in turn Palin's former brother-in-law, Trooper Michael Wooten.

This really is a case of half-baked Alaska. First, the inquiry's conclusions were ambiguous. It found that Palin had violated public trust through using official action for personal interest; but it also said the firing was a proper and lawful exercise of her authority, and that personal interest had only been a contributory factor in the Commissioner's firing.

And just what was that personal interest? Palin wanted a state Trooper fired because he had assaulted his 11-year-old stepson with a stun gun, been caught drinking alcohol in his patrol car, and the Palins say was threatening to kill a member of their family.

Certainly, there was a conflict of interest because Wooten was the Governor's sister's ex-husband. But shouldn't the real question be why such a man was not fired?

What is really astounding, however, is the hue and cry over this non-event in Alaska while a raft of disturbing evidence about Senator Obama's connections is being either glossed over or not reported at all.

This may come as a shock to most people, but Obama is at the centre of a network of radical associations which he has tried to conceal.

Take for example his relationship with William Ayers, founder of the terrorist Weather Underground which bombed federal buildings in the 1960s and who has consistently maintained his radical views ever since.

Obama's own political career was actually launched in Ayers's Chicago house at a fundraising-event in 1995 which fired the starting gun for his run at the Illinois Senate.

Not only that, Obama and Ayers both sat on the boards of two organisations, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and the Woods Fund. These organisations put into practice Ayers's revolutionary ideology by channelling money supposed to fund regular educational projects into extreme radical groups instead.

Obama now says he didn't know of Ayers's terrorist past and never endorsed his views, simply working with him on an educational project. But it defies belief he didn't know about Ayers, who was notorious in Chicago. In 2001, indeed, Ayers told a magazine: 'I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough.'

The crucial point was that this educational project was itself a vehicle for subversion; in the view of Ayers, its driving force, education was 'the motor-force of revolution'. Moreover, Obama wrote a rave review about Ayers' book on criminal justice, which compared America to South Africa under apartheid.

Scandal

Through the Woods Fund, Obama also funnelled millions of dollars to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Described by an academic sympathiser as 'a uniquely militant organisation', ACORN played a significant role in the sub-prime scandal - which detonated America's financial crisis - by physically intimidating banks into lowering credit standards for poor and minority customers.

The Obama campaign has paid an ACORN subsidiary $800,000 to register new voters. But now, numerous states are launching investigations into massive voter fraud being carried out by ACORN activists who are being caught falsifying voter registration cards, registering fictitious individuals and hounding voters to register multiple times.

But Obama's connections with ACORN go even deeper. Even though his campaign has denied this, for several years running he trained its activists and in 1992 even ran one of its voter registration projects.

Such radical links fit with other highly dubious associations Obama has made. We all know that, under pressure, he distanced himself from his longstanding mentor Pastor Wright, who infamously coined the phrase 'God damn America!'

But Obama never distanced himself from the anti-white teachings of his church, which was heavily influenced by the philosophy of the black racist James Cone who claimed that 'whiteness is the symbol of the antichrist'.

And after the controversy over Wright, Obama has become close to another preacher, Jim Wallis, who spews out the same anti-American message - once calling the U.S. 'the great power, the great seducer, the great captor and destroyer of human life'.

That's not all. ACORN is heavily involved with a Marxist group called the Chicago New Party, whose strategy is to force the Democratic Party to the far Left by infiltrating it and ' burrowing from within'. In 1996, the New Party exulted that one of its members who had just been successful in the political primary season was - Barack Obama.

Guilt

Whenever any of this surfaces, the Left tries to suppress it by screaming 'guilt by association'. Not so. This is guilt by participation.

The left cries 'smear' and 'racism'. On the contrary - if Obama wasn't a black Democrat, with this history his candidacy would have been toast before it got started.

Just consider if the boot had been on the other foot and McCain's political career had been launched by an abortion clinic bomber; his mentor for 20 years had been a Ku Klux Klansman, and he had paid nearly a million dollars to far-Right militias who strong-armed voters into fraudulent registrations.

Of course, there is no suggestion that Obama supports terrorism or intimidation. But the question is whether through expediency or ideological sympathy or a combination of the two, he has allowed himself to be associated with thinking that threatens the basic values of America and Western society.

This may sound too incredible for words. But what's really incredible is that, with dozens of reporters feverishly combing Alaska for any evidence to tarnish Sarah Palin, the mainstream media has largely refused to investigate any of this.

What's really incredible is that a man with such a background in anti-Western thinking can now stand on the verge of becoming the leader of the free world.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not a particular fan of John McCain. I think he is indeed erratic, and has run a lousy campaign. And the exhausted Republicans deserve to lose. But the prospect of Obama in the White House as America's first far-Left radical president is deeply worrying.

It would be a crowning triumph for the anti-Western ideology which has wrought such havoc on both sides of the Atlantic.

The reason Sarah Palin has struck such a chord is that Middle America sees her as the first candidate in its lifetime who stands against that destructive nihilism. That's why she is the key target for Western radicals who are now poised to gain the biggest prize of all.

Media Poo-Poo Heads

Here is another fine article that illustrates precisely how I feel about the media:

October 11, 2008
What happened to the media?
By Karyn Gaidos

I am not trying to sound trite, but honestly I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

What happened to our jaded media who looked for the fire when they even had a glimpse of smoke? What happened to the media who wanted every single detail of a blue dress and a naughty cigar?

As much as I thought all of the insidious coverage of that Presidential misstep was a bit much, I would take that any day over this overly-apathetic, take-any-answer-at-face-value media we are dealing with now.

Come on media. A sitting president enjoying a peaceful and prosperous eight years has a little fun with an intern, and you went after every last, salacious detail of each and every phone call and encounter.

Now in a time of war and financial meltdown, we have a relatively unknown candidate for the highest office in the land, who keeps fluffing off reports of radical associations as if he is swatting a mosquito away, and you just accept his nonsensical answers at face value.

Never would I have thought that the American media would let an unknown politician running for President get away with having "Community Organizer" as a main feature of his short resume and the seemingly endless radical connections that keep emerging.

Let's recap some of what Barrack Obama seems to have skated passed the American media -- and by default -- much of the American public.

First comes the twenty-year association with a very racist, radical and politically-incorrect Reverend Wright, who is on tape ranting and raving about the American government, white people, Hillary Clinton and many American ideals. His extreme, radical bias against the American government, the American Dream and white people are clearly depicted.

Even though Obama clearly spent 20 years sitting in the pews of Reverend Wright's church and has mentioned him as his spiritual guide on several occasions, the media allowed him to escape relatively unscathed with the announcement that he is leaving his church. This appeased the media and seemed to appease the masses.

Who cares about what it says about his judgment and philosophy to have sat in his pews for 20 years and have used him as his spiritual guide? They said, "Let's get back to the issues."

And so they did.

Then the alternative media started wondering, "What exactly is a Community Organizer, and how does that prepare someone for presidency"? That is a great question, but the mainstream media ignored that question entirely and made it sound like he was some do-gooder who was providing community service.

Anyone at all who bothered to look into what exactly Barrack Obama did as a Community Organizer would have found that he was involved with radical organizations, such as ACORN. Once it came out that ACORN is in frequent trouble for voter fraud and has been caught shaking down mortgage executives to offer bad loans to risky home buyers, his campaign manager says that he didn't work for ACORN. He worked for Project Vote.

The media just left it at that. They didn't bother to report that Project Vote has always been an ACORN affiliate project, and that Barrack Obama did, in fact, serve as ACORN's attorney at least in one Motor Voter Law case. They would also have discovered that he acted as a trainer, who trained young people to be radicals.

Instead, the media ignored that he addressed ACORN's Convention recently and all of the other facts mentioned above, and let the story end with the bogus explanation about Project Vote having been his employer, not ACORN.

Early in his bid for President, it came out that Barrack Obama bought property next door to his good pal, Tony Rezko, who got it for him at $300,000 under market value. Did I mention Rezko is a felon who is most likely on his way to prison for shaking down vendors who wanted to do business with the State of Illinois? I wonder where he learned that tactic? I am sure it wasn't Harvard Business School. I would bet he learned that in some Marxist textbook.

So after that connection gets swept under the rug and dismissed as John McCain's attempt to avoid the real issues, yet another radical association emerges - Bill Ayers.

This guy started a radical, anti-American, terrorist group called the Weather Underground and bombed the Capitol, the Pentagon, the New York City Police Headquarters, and the home of a Judge presiding over a trial of another radical group, the Black Panthers.

It comes out that Barrack Obama launched his political career in this despicable terrorist's living room, sat on some boards with him, collaborated on education projects with him and who knows what else. I wish the media would find out what else. Since when would they let a story like this go?

I'll tell you when - since they decided they were in the bag for Barrack Obama.

Even though Obama and his advisors keep changing their stories about his connection with Ayers, which would indicate to anyone that there is a lie hidden within the spin, the media has not challenged one single statement that has come from Obama's camp.

There is a chance that a man with a history of radical, Anti-American connections will be our next President, and we are going to treat these reports of his connections as a McCain campaign ploy to distract the public from the real issues.

I cannot think of an issue more pressing than the political agenda and theoretical basis of our next President and Commander-in-Chief. Can you? Radicalism and Socialism have defined him and might soon define our country if the media doesn't wake up and report the facts so that the American people can see things as they really are - not as they are packaged.

Barrack Obama has packaged himself as a Patriotic American looking to serve the people and help the "middle class." Frighteningly, what he might really be is an Anti-American, Socialist, who is looking to own the "middle class."

You think I am exaggerating? Thanks to the mainstream media, you might not know that Barrack Obama sought after and won the New Party's endorsement in 1996.

The New Party is a Socialist, Left-Wing faction of the Democratic Party who disdained Clinton's middle-of-the-road policies. Barrack Obama is now running as a Centrist, despite all of the evidence, including his voting record, that shows that he is as Left-Wing as they come.

Like I said, let's unwrap the packaging and get to the heart of this man before he takes the helm of a country in the middle of two wars and a devastating economic crisis.

Sarah Rocks!

We watched the Vice Presidential debate tonight and I found it very exciting and very interesting. I didn't understand everything, but I understood enough to know that even though I liked Joe Biden, I definitely did not agree with most of his policy opinions. I agreed with almost everything Sarah Palin said and I was so impressed with how easily she stood up for unpopular positions such as being opposed to gay marriage and preserving the tradition marriage.

Last night and earlier today, I had done many Google searches trying to find the interviews of Palin that I had missed over the last couple weeks. I was so discouraged to only find negative coverage. Man, people are just ripping her apart in the media. I don't really understand it, how they can belabor a point like how she couldn't think of a supreme court case on the spot and repeatedly make fun of her, yet I've not heard a single media rep on TV or online make mention or question Obama's refusal to put hand to heart while saluting our flag. Have you seen this?

Maybe you've gotten a forwarded email about it (Snopes will confirm its truth), but has it made national news the way Palin's mistakes or character flaws have? No. His charisma seems to make people completely overlook some major character defects in his patriotism and lack of experience. I just can't get over the fact that more people aren't disturbed by this lack of American pride you'd expect in a presidential candidate. Joe Biden would make a much finer candidate. I didn't agree with everything he said, but I really liked him.

But, I loved Sarah. I found myself yelling "good girl!" over and over at the TV. She held herself very well, I thought, in contrast to the image the media has portrayed for her. In fact, as of this morning, I'd felt those same distraught feelings I felt at the beginning of this campaign--there's no worthy candidate, they're all liars, none of them know what they're doing... the media had done such a good job of making Sarah look kinda ignorant. But, not anymore, not after tonight. I'm back on board and ready to vote. The real live, unedited Sarah Palin is poised, well-spoken (despite the critics' opinions that she's too "hill jack", or unprofessional, in her vocab), educated, motivated, energetic, and hopeful, and I think she will make a fine Vice President.

I hope she wins. I want to be like her when I grow up... sleek black suit and all.
